I resent the idea that I’m not permitted to have complex/complicated feelings about the Barack Obama presidency, that I can’t acknowledge that he is, at once, a symbol that has lifted the veil from the eyes of little black girls and boys everywhere who can now dream greater because of him AND a figurehead that is upholding and perpetuating White Supremacist Capitalist Heteropatriarchy.
